Perth Boat Show 2026: WA’s Boat Show in the City returns for Father’s Day weekend

Six pavilions, 80-plus exhibitors and three days of everything that floats — the Perth Boat Show is back at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 4–6 September, and this year it lands squarely on Father’s Day.

Western Australia’s biggest boating event returns to Mounts Bay Road next month, taking over Pavilions 1 to 6 of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre for three days of boats, gear, demonstrations and family entertainment.

Owned by the Boating Industry Association of WA and run by CMS Events, the show has built its reputation on a simple proposition: everything under one roof, in the middle of the city. Rather than spreading displays across marinas and hardstands, the entire exhibition is indoors, which makes it unusually easy to compare a trailer boat, an outboard package, a set of electronics and a finance option in a single afternoon — regardless of what the Fremantle Doctor is doing outside.

What’s on the floor

The 2026 exhibitor list runs deep across trailer boats, plate alloy, sportscruisers and everything that bolts to them.

Aquasports Marine brings a heavyweight lineup with Quintrex, Bar Crusher, Haines Hunter, Polycraft and Rayglass under one banner, while Mandurah Outboards is fielding one of the show’s largest displays with around 27 boats spanning Quintrex, Yellowfin, Boston Whaler and NexGen pontoons, plus the full Mercury outboard range.

At the pointier end, DCH Marine Group is showing Saxdor and Sunseeker, Eyachts brings Axopar, and MW Marine is giving the Wellcraft 28 T-Top its Western Australian debut following the model’s Australian premiere at the Sydney Boat Show. Malibu Boats WA, Whittley, Stabicraft, Surtees, Stejcraft, White Pointer, SARGO and Kirby Marine’s Naiad RIBs round out a genuinely broad fleet.

Engine and electronics representation is strong too, with Mercury, Suzuki, Yamaha, Tohatsu, Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, Fusion, Minn Kota and Seakeeper all on the floor — the latter showing both its gyro stabilisers and the Seakeeper Ride system.

Demonstrations, Sea Safe and On Deck with Pete

The Boat Shed Stage anchors the show’s program with live demonstrations and Sea Safe sessions aimed at building practical skills and confidence on the water. It’s the kind of content that plays well with WA’s large first-time-boater cohort, and the full schedule is due for release shortly.

Roaming the floor alongside it is Perth is OK! On Deck with Pete, with Pete Curulli working the aisles, talking to exhibitors and pulling out the standout new product releases across the show.

Father’s Day, Friday twilight and a $4,129 door prize

Sunday 6 September falls on Father’s Day, and the show is leaning into it. The first 250 dads through the doors receive a free gift of their choice — coffee, a Perth Boat Show stubby holder, cap or fishing shirt — with further giveaways running through the day.

Friday brings a twilight session, with doors open until 7pm and discounted adult and concession entry of $12.50 online from 3:30pm — a straightforward after-work option for anyone in the CBD.

Running across all three days, the Door Prize is a Floatables prize pack valued at $4,129, comprising a water bouncer, two inflatable SUPs, a 20L TPU soft cooler bag and a three-way pump. Entry is via QR codes around the venue or the quick survey at the entrance.

Families are catered for at Little Nippers Cove, a free kids’ zone running 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, while the Skippers Bar and an on-site café give visitors somewhere to regroup between pavilions.

Fun facts: WA’s boating obsession by the numbers

• Around 100,000 registered recreational vessels are on the water in Western Australia — nearly double South Australia’s fleet, despite the two states having a similar number of licensed boaters.
• Roughly 281,000 West Australians hold a boat licence, part of a national figure of more than 2.5 million. Nationally, that’s about 1 in 10 Australians.
• WA has the longest coastline of any Australian state, and a boating season that effectively never closes — Mediterranean in the south-west, tropical up north.
• 85% of Australian boats are under 6 metres and 62% are aluminium, which explains why the trailer boat pavilions are always the busiest.
• WA’s Recreational Skipper’s Ticket has been mandatory since April 2008 for anyone skippering a vessel with an engine over 4.5kW (6hp) — and you can sit it from age 14.
• The show is entirely indoors across six pavilions, a rarity among Australian boat shows, most of which are marina-based or split between land and water.
• Rottnest Island is roughly an hour’s cruise from the city — one reason WA’s registered fleet skews toward capable, offshore-ready trailer boats.
