Maritimo’s new boat loves the outdoors and there’s no better way to celebrate the outdoor lifestyle than with a luxurious 60 foot motor yacht with plenty of power.

The bar holds 24 bottles—even the square shaped.  The saloon, bar, dinette and galley make a sociable one-level space.  The Aegean’s enclosed flybridge is an impressive space for entertaining as for navigating.

Maritimo recently launched the first of its Aegean range, the Aegean 60.

The yacht (known in shorthand as the A60) is identical to Maritimo’s 60 Sports Cabriolet (the C60) but with an open flybridge.  Aware that Australians love outdoor entertaining, Maritimo created the A60 so that owners can have the benefit of a large, comfortable area in which to enjoy 360° views of the sea, the sea air and sunshine.

For those who want the first two but not too much of the last, Maritimo will add a bimini top. Presumably, this emphasis on outdoor living is what inspired the company to name the range after the sea separating Greece from Turkey.  The Aegean islands have long been famous for the relaxed, sun-drenched lifestyle they offer.

It’s easy to get up to the Aegean 60’s flybridge: there’s an internal staircase on the starboard side, just aft of the lower helm.

Down on the main deck, the aft cockpit has plenty of room for al fresco dining.  Boating gourmets will love the aft galley, as luxurious as the best home kitchens.  There’s ample fridge and freezer space, plenty of storage, a cocktail cabinet and even a dishwasher.

The A60 features a large saloon and four staterooms, including a full-width master with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.  The master stateroom is amidships, the most comfortable place to sleep on any boat because that’s where there’s the least movement.

When it’s time to go ashore, the cockpit sole elevates and the transom drops at the push of a button to reveal a garage big enough to store a 3.5m tender.  The tender slides in and out, which means there’s no need for a crane and owners don’t have to store it on the foredeck.

In the engine room (big enough for a man to stand), the dual C12 Caterpillar diesels each deliver 715 horsepower, which give the A60 a top speed of 30 knots or so.  A ZF gearbox delivers the power through conventional shaft drives to the five-blade Teignbridge propellers.  The fuel tank sits forward, on the boat’s pivot point.  Keeping the weight away from the stern means that A60, like the C60, doesn’t have to labour too much to get up on the plane.  And if there’s one thing the Aegean 60 discourages, it’s too much labour.
