DESCRIPTION

X-79 sailing yacht.

X-Rated is a very fine example of the Danish X 7.9 yacht is now exclusively for sale with DBY Boat Sales.

Launched around 1985, she has been kept updated along the way and has 2022 standing and running rigging. A 2023 Yamaha 5hp outboard which presents as new.

The X-79 sailing yacht is a known European performer and loads of fun for twilights and coastal exploring. They are constructed as sandwich construction of fibre glass laid-up by hand.

Characteristic for the X-79 is the high quality of finish and strong performance for her size.

The cockpit is worked out providing optimum seating comfort at the 2m long benches as well as on the side decks.

The long mainsail cross haul secures a precise and easily operated mainsail trim. All halyards and reefs are led to the winch at the hatch garage so that it can be operated either from windward, leeward, or standing on the double step in the companion way.

The X-79 design is still in keeping with modern designs. An increasing number of sailors today acknowledge the X-79 as a brilliant construction which gives the perfect sailing experience.

The interior of the X-79 is functional, light and pleasant. The timbers used are mainly mahogany, and the sole is painted with a structure coat. Equipped with one cabin, 4 - 6 berths, a galley with single burner cooking, a stainless steel sink with plumbed fresh water, 20 litre fresh water capacity and toilet facility with holding tank.

At the foldaway teak table in the cabin there is seating for 4-6 persons. The quarter berths are deep and comfortable.

The forward cabin can easily be used for additional sails and plenty of gear stowage.

The combined chart table/galley can easily be operated while sitting on the front step, placed in the front hole.

One of the most successful match racing finals in Demark was held by using the X-79 in extremely hard weather (wind force 22 m/s) where the boats, as well as the gear, proved high quality.

Both the hull and the deck are fibreglass, sandwich construction which improves the indoor climate. Especially when the water is colder than the air in the cabin, then the double hull insulates against cold water and reduce the condense water in the cabin. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all. The almost brand new outboard requires a basic service once per year so the overall running cost of this boat is very small. Entry level budget and fun times.

The X-79 is built with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers. The standing and running rigging were all replaced in 2022. A large #1 headsail, #2,3 and 4 plus a storm sail and 2 x spinnakers for optimal fun and speed complete the sail locker.
