MINGGAT is a standout example of the popular Islander 36 — a model renowned for its performance, strength, and seaworthy design. With a robust skeg-hung rudder, these yachts are especially favoured by offshore cruisers.
Lovingly maintained and significantly upgraded by her current owners over the past 25 years, Minggat has been strengthened beyond factory specifications. Notably, eight additional keel bolts have been sistered in, providing exceptional peace of mind during bluewater passages.
Her onboard systems have been tested and refined through ocean sailing, including a serious upgrade to refrigeration — one of the biggest concerns for any cruising sailor. The military-grade, stand-alone chest refrigerator draws just 12 amp hours per night and is easily supported by solar in sunny conditions. A separate built-in freezer adds even more functionality for extended cruising.
In 2022, she received a full electrical upgrade with lithium batteries and a DC/DC charging system, ensuring efficient power generation and storage. The original windows have also been replaced with new cast acrylic portlights and hatches.
