ALASKAN 49-71, 1974 'CAPELLA'
This vessel is sound and comfortable, with it's own unique assuring and pleasant ambience, and readily forms a personality bond.
After use or visit, she is very hard to leave and go home.
The Mahogany planked hull, and teak decks and internal teak finishing are admirable, and the substantial keel with adequate deadwood and bronze shoe make a very sea-kindly, stable and comfortable boat.
She travels well and economically both inshore and offshore, and is properly equipped for these activities.
Normal cruise 1600rpm at 7.5kts–approx.16 litre/hr, 1800 rpm 8.5kts-24 litre/hr.
She has been properly cared for and well maintained for the 29 year stewardship of the present owner, who is preparing to move on, and wishes to take the name forward.

Fwd below decks are the Fwd.guest cabin, with 4 V bunk arrangement, and stowage lockers, a small foyer leading to spiral staircase to pilothouse, Fwd guest toilet and shower, with access also thru the master stateroom to the saloon deck steps.
The master stateroom includes a double berth, locker, vanity unit, and master toilet, shower with sitting bath.
The Saloon Deck is the main saloon plus Galley, steps down to Fwd Master & guest cabins, plus steps up to the Pilot House, with rear access doors to Aft Cockpit.
The Galley is well equipped with cupboards and pantry, with electric stove/oven, microwave, battery powered adapted domestic refrigerator, 2 battery powered chest fridge/freezers located adjacent under saloon settee.
The saloon is well placed midships, with drop dining table, dining settee/bed conversion, and port side settee, with double fold doors to the aft cockpit deck.
The pilothouse is a very sociable area, is accessed from the saloon steps, and also from the port and starboard walk-around bulwarks with a door each side.
The upper deck raised pilothouse includes an aft pilot berth, drop table with U settee (for extra berth), navigation and control counter with wheel, auto-anchor controller, engine instruments and controls, aux.engine controls and instruments, and Furuno Navigation package including – Heading Sensor repeater, Satnav, Autopilot, chart plotter, 24nm radar, offshore sounder, inshore sounder, 27meg radio, VHF radio, broadcast FM radio with CD player – feeds speakers throughout the boat – and also holds the electrical switchboard.
Also includes a rare large Danforth Constellation main ship brass compass, barometer and clock.
The Flybridge & top boatdeck, access from aft cockpit steps, has a counter with wheel, duplicate engine controls and meters, pilot chair, and side bunk seats, with a Bimini canvas top.
This is a commonly used social area and external driving area in good conditions.
An electric folding davit is fitted on the deck, along with the dinghy.
Cradles are fitted for 2 kayaks.
The aft cockpit area is the main access area for boarding, fishing, and social activities, and has a hatch to the lazarette underneath, and as main access to the engineroom.
The lazarette is a utility space for fenders, mooring lines and the like.
Access to engineroom is also available by hatch in galley floor, and also an unused hatch/door behind main stateroom lower deck steps.
The engineroom houses the 4 fuel tanks for 2300 litres, 2 water tanks for 1200 litres plus the main and auxiliary engines, 20 litre water heater(engine + electric), refrig.compressors, batteries, & battery charger-12v60amp-3 outputs, and main battery isolation switch panel.
The batteries are Hoppecke FNC type with recombination, remaining life 15+years

Aux.Engine, Westerbecke W27, with wmd 11kw alternator, 230v 50hz power.
The toilets are connected to a common USCG approved Lectrasan sanitation treatment system located under the main wc console, and have a selected output to thru hull external underwater discharge, or to holding tank selection in specified no discharge areas. The 300 litre holding tank is located under Fwd bunks, extract top fwd deck.
The electric windlass is at the forepeak deck, has both footswitch operators and also the Auto-Anchor control in the pilothouse- plough anchor and 120 metres gal.chain.
