The iconic Northshore 38 is widely regarded as one of the finest Australian production cruising yachts ever built. Renowned for their strong construction, excellent sailing performance and beautifully crafted interiors, these yachts have earned a loyal following among serious coastal cruisers and club racers alike.
This particular example is the desirable 380C version, one of the later boats produced and among the last built, featuring the extensive timber interior finish and the later swim platform design.
Owned by the same owner for over 20 years, this yacht has been lightly used yet meticulously maintained, with numerous key upgrades and servicing completed in recent years. The result is a yacht that presents in excellent condition and is ready for immediate cruising.

Important maintenance and upgrades include:
New rigging and sails – 2017
New spray dodger, bimini and cockpit cushions – 2021
Gas system fully overhauled and re-certified – 2021
Steering system overhaul – 2023
Antifouling – July (recent)
Engine service – November (recent)
This level of care ensures the yacht remains both reliable and enjoyable to sail.

The cockpit is practical, secure and designed for relaxed cruising or social sailing.
Features include:
Pushpit seats for additional cockpit seating
Twin solar panels mounted on the bimini
Teak cockpit floor and seating
Four cockpit-mounted sailing instruments for clear visibility
Full-function Raymarine ST5000+ autopilot control
The spray dodger and bimini provide excellent protection underway, while a boom tent creates a comfortable shaded living space when at anchor.
Practical Deck Layout
On the foredeck, the anchor locker is fitted with a deck wash system and the anchor is managed by a Muir electric windlass.
Sail handling is simple and efficient:
Furling genoa on a large-diameter Furlex furler, in excellent condition
Mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks for easy hoisting, reefing and stowing
Traditional Interior with Quality Finish
Below decks the Northshore 38’s reputation for quality joinery and practical cruising layout is immediately apparent.
To port is an L-shaped galley equipped with:
High-quality Smev four-burner stove with oven and grill
Stainless sink with saltwater foot pump to conserve fresh water
80-litre 12V refrigerator
Opposite is a full-sized navigation station, housing the plotter, stereo, VHF radio, battery monitor and electrical switch panel.
Comfortable Accommodation
The accommodation layout is both versatile and comfortable for extended cruising:
Generous single quarter berth aft to starboard
U-shaped saloon dinette to port, mounted on gas struts for easy conversion to a double berth
Bench seat to starboard, which can also serve as a single berth
Storage throughout the saloon is excellent, with large lockers outboard and additional space beneath the berths.
Forward, the layout includes:
Head compartment to port with manual toilet and hot and cold shower
Vanity and storage lockers to starboard
Comfortable V-berth forward cabin
All opening ports are fitted with mosquito screens, enhancing comfort when cruising in warmer climates.
