Lagoon 38: The Ultimate 38ft Catamaran for Ocean and Coastal Adventures

Home»Boating News»Lagoon 38: The Ultimate 38ft Catamaran for Ocean and Coastal Adventures

Lagoon Catamarans is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the highly anticipated Lagoon 38, hitting the water in 2025. This 38ft catamaran builds on the legacy of the popular Lagoon 380. One of the best-selling cruising catamarans ever, with over 1,000 units sold worldwide.

Designed for the Ultimate Cruising Experience

The Lagoon 38 combines the best elements of its predecessor with modern innovations, striking the perfect balance of space, design, and sailing performance. Drawing inspiration from the successful Lagoon 42 and 43, this new model feels much larger. As a result, it’s not only ideal for coastal cruising but also well-suited for longer blue-water adventures.

Joe Fox, Brand Manager at TMG Yachts, explains, “The Lagoon 380 was a global hit. Building on that success, the Lagoon 38 pushes the legacy forward with cutting-edge design, increased space, and enhanced performance.” Following such a successful model is no easy feat. However, after years of development, we’re confident this boat will quickly become a top choice for Aussie sailors seeking a manageable and capable cruising vessel.”

A Fresh Approach to Space and Comfort

The Lagoon 38 has been thoughtfully designed to maximise space, enhance comfort, and create a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. These features, typically found on larger catamarans, make the Lagoon 38 stand out. The cockpit and saloon flow together effortlessly, offering several configurations to match your lifestyle. For those who love to entertain, the option of a full-length dining table stretching from the saloon to the cockpit is perfect, or you can choose a separate cockpit dining area with a choice of high or low tables, providing flexibility for casual meals or formal dinners.

The forward-positioned galley is practical and spacious, with a full-size fridge/freezer to ensure ample storage for extended cruising. The one-level living concept makes moving around the boat easy, with a single step onto the large aft platforms, offering improved accessibility and a smooth boarding process. Plus, the forward cockpit is an exceptional space for relaxation, a feature rarely found on a 38ft catamaran.

Inside, the Lagoon 38 offers three or four-cabin layouts to suit different cruising needs. Both configurations, moreover, feature a larger head on either side, providing additional space and enhancing comfort. The master suite, located on the port side, features a forward-facing berth and a larger ensuite, with an office or vanity space positioned midships. This clever design maximises liveability and storage for long-term cruising.

Fox adds, “Despite its 38ft size, the Lagoon 38 feels more like a 40-footer. With its extra volume and smart layout, every inch is maximised, making the boat both more spacious and comfortable.”

Built for Blue-Water Adventures

Staying true to Lagoon’s legacy of reliable, comfortable, and capable offshore cruisers, the Lagoon 38 is designed for serious passage-making. It’s ideal for sailors who want to cross oceans and explore the world, as this catamaran is built for adventure. With features like a self-tacking jib, an optional Code Zero or asymmetric spinnaker, and a low boom with an ergonomic helm station, sailing is both simple and efficient. Powered by twin Yanmar 29HP engines and a 400L fuel capacity, the Lagoon 38 is ready for long-haul cruising.

Joe Fox notes, “We’ve seen Lagoon owners take their 38 to 42ft catamarans across the globe—from the Atlantic to remote island chains. With the option for European delivery, many owners set sail straight from the factory in France and head into the Mediterranean or beyond.”
