Brisbane angler Rodney Sinclair has taken his fishing experiences to new heights. With a remarkable upgrade: a BlueFin P395 boat powered by the advanced Mercury Avator 7.5e electric motor.
Rodney won the boat package after participating in all five rounds of the Bass Electric Tour. Earning five entries into the prize draw. After swapping his kayak for this new boat, the powerful Avator motor has already made a noticeable impact on his fishing adventures.
“It’s a total game-changer,” Rodney shared. “It makes everything easier, from rigging rods and lures to reaching my favourite spots. “The entire experience has significantly improved, and it has become so much better.”
With a single battery lasting up to four hours, Rodney has the added peace of mind of a twin battery setup, which allows for longer trips and more power, knowing he has a backup to safely return home.
“This prize is incredible, and I honestly can’t even begin to explain how excited I was when I first heard my name called,” he said. “I’m on the water every chance I get now.”
Rodney has his eyes set on next year’s Bass Electric Tournament and believes his boat upgrades will give him the competitive edge. To boost performance, he raised the hull and built up the transom, ensuring the Avator motor sits higher in the water, reducing drag and increasing efficiency.
“It performed well before, but now it’s even better. I can reach speeds up to 9.5 km/h,” he said. “It’s not just the speed; I also love how easy it is to use. Attaching it to the transom is a breeze, the motor is lightweight, and the digital display is clear and simple to read.”
As the first electric motor Rodney has ever used, he’s been impressed by its performance compared to traditional combustion engines.
“I was genuinely surprised by how much torque it has for an electric engine. It’s way more powerful than I expected,” he said. “And it’s incredibly quiet, which is perfect for fishing at North Pine Dam, where there’s a lot of wildlife. I can glide through the water without disturbing anything.”
