Oceana Yacht Brokers Pty Ltd (ACN 009 977 413) have been in business since 1st March, 2001! Not very long compared to other brokers who've been around for a very long time. However! Mike Davidson, the sole owner and operator has been involved in yachting, power boating and dinghy sailing for over 40 years!

Originally a motor mechanic, he then worked for Glascraft Marine for ten years in wholesale and retail sales. Mike sailed 18ft Skiffs to single handed International Contenders, his best result being 6th in the World. He joined Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in 1972 and is a fully paid member.

He spent many years on General Committee in various capacities on Entertainment, Game Fishing and Canaipa committees, including Chairman of Sailing. Mike won an Ansett Hamilton Island Yachtsman of the Year award.

In 1983 Mike started his own marine wholesale business Dockside Marine Wholesale Pty Ltd . During this time he built, sold and bought many yachts, the most famous were all called Foolish Behaviour .

They competed in numerous blue water races including 9 Brisbane to Gladstone's, Sydney to Mooloolaba, Hamilton Island Race Week's and too many others to mention here.

In 1997 Mike and his wife Barby sold Dockside Marine and bought MV Oceana, a Chung Wah 46 Europa style and set off to explore the Queensland Coast. Once they got to Princess Charlotte Bay where there's a resident crocodile on every island, it was time to turn South!

The only real drama was losing the hydraulic steering, but with the help of fellow boaties and the fantastic trawler guys all ended well. The motor mechanic, come yachtie, come power boatie, all merged! This is why Mike is such a good broker, he knows what he's talking about whether you want a yacht, a power boat, a multihull, or just good honest advice!
