Coomera, QLD: More than 5000 car enthusiasts from all over South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales converged at the home of Riviera on Sunday to celebrate the life of the late Paul Walker, star of The Fast and the Furious film series, and to raise funds for his charity, Reach Out WorldWide.

The charity car cruise was organised by DownshiftAus, a car enthusiast community dedicated to giving people safe, legal and fun events to attend both on and off the racetrack.

Beginning at Riviera's 14-hectare state-of-the-art Coomera facility, more than 3000 cars including classic, prestige, movie replicas and everyday vehicles, were escorted by Queensland police to Eagle Farm in Brisbane.

DownshiftAus director Matyas Fulop said the event raised a total of AUS $7,165 for Paul Walker's charity Reach Out WorldWide, which benefits disaster victims around the world, including those in the Philippines recently affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

"Paul Walker from the Fast and the Furious inspired a lot of us to harness the love we have today for all things automotive. As a community, we feel that it is fitting to commemorate his life and influence by raising funds for his charity through the car cruise," Matyas said.

Riviera's director of brand and communication Stephen Milne said it was certainly an impressive site to see so many cars lined up in front of Riviera.

"We were pleased to offer the use of our site for this very worthwhile cause. There were people and cars as far as you cold see up and down Waterway Drive, so it was fantastic to see the generosity of our local automotive community who dug deep to raise more than $7,000 for disaster victims world-wide," Mr Milne said.
