NSW Maritime notice for Anzac Day for boaters to look out for rowers

NSW Maritime has issued an aquatic licence to NSW Rowing to conduct an Anzac Day dawn service near the Anzac Bridge this Saturday, 25 April.

The service will commence at 5.20am and run till 5.45am when rowers will move to Leichhardt Rowing Club where they will go ashore.

With about 40 rowers from Leichhardt and Glebe Rowing Clubs taking to the water to attend the dawn service, NSW Maritime urges all skippers of commercial and recreational vessels to keep a special lookout and to reduce speed in waterways near Anzac Bridge.

The rowers will conduct their dawn service to the west of Glebe Point outside the main thoroughfare between the Fish Markets and Anzac Bridge.

A NSW Maritime vessel will be in attendance to monitor the event.

Rowers are urged to keep a lookout, comply with NSW Maritime’s lighting code of conduct and to navigate in a safe and prudent manner.

NSW Maritime issues aquatic licences on an event by event basis and the decision to grant a licence in this case recognises the special significance of the Anzac service to the local rowing community.
