Introducing the Riviera Motor Yacht Collection
Australia's largest luxury boat builder, Riviera, has announced a completely new range - Riviera Motor Yachts ranging in size from 73 to 85 feet.

These new models, bearing Riviera's hallmark styling and impeccable build quality, will be the epitome of luxury for a few discerning owners.

Riviera 73, 78 and 85 Motor Yachts extend the range of options for dedicated Riviera owners close to superyacht dimensions.

The new range will be built at a specialist yard in Taiwan under strict Riviera supervision.

"These beautiful new boats are designed by our New Product Development team at Riviera's Coomera headquarters," said Riviera CEO John Anderson. "Every element of the specification and layout is controlled by our in-house team. Just as our magnificent Riviera 70 drew on all of the company's experience and research among our long-time owners, so the new Motor Yacht range draws on our experience and accumulated knowledge of nearly 30 years and more than 4,800 boats built.

Mr Anderson said Taiwan boat yards had earned a worldwide reputation for build quality.
"All construction will be closely supervised by Riviera's own engineers and boat builders," he said.
"The Riviera design studio team is second to none in luxury boat design. Together they draw on experience not only in developing the flagship Riviera 70, but have worked with Azzura, with Sunseeker in the UK and with Austal building superyachts."

From the large enclosed flybridge, with its interior and exterior lounge areas, to the accommodation space offering a minimum of four cabins and three or four bathrooms plus crew quarters, these Riviera's set a new standard in luxury for long-distance cruising, relaxing at anchor in a secluded bay or at a marina.
The massive saloons encompass a lounge area, generous U-shape galley amidships and a separate dining area.

Owners have a wide range of options including a garage housing a tender or space on the flybridge deck to store their tender or other water toys. With the garage not an option, the flybridge exterior can be a large entertaining area with lounges, tables and bar fridges.

Standard inclusions on the 73 and 78 Motor Yachts include full beam master air-conditioning throughout, a fully enclosed Sky Lounge, comprehensive audio-visual systems (from a 50-inch digital system in the main saloon and another in the Sky Lounge to TV/DVD systems in all cabins). There is also a tender garage, hydraulic swim platform and bow thruster.

The 85 MY standard inclusions encompass four cabins including a full-beam master stateroom with full-beam bathroom equipped with shower and bath and dual basins and toilets plus twin walk-in robes, the enclosed Sky Lounge, tender garage and hydraulic swim platform, hydraulic bow and stern thrusters and windlass

Engine options will give owners a wide range of boating lifestyles, from long-range cruising of more that 1,500 nautical miles to planing speeds around 24 knots.

Standard engines on the 73 Motor Yacht are MTU Series 60 rated at 825 horsepower. Options include Caterpillar C18 (1,015hp) and MTU 8V (1,200hp). The 73 Motor Yacht will also have an option for triple Volvo Penta IPS-2 (700hp) propulsion.

Standard engines on the Riviera 78 Motor Yacht are Caterpillar C18 rated at 1,015hp with the option of MTU 8V engines rated at 1,200hp.

Standard engines on the Riviera 85 Motor Yacht are the same as for the 78 Motor Yacht with the additional option of Caterpillar C32 engines rated at 1,550hp.

In Australia, owners will have all the benefits of the R Marine support network that stretches from Perth in the west to Airlie Beach in Queensland's Whitsunday's. Around the world, Riviera's Dealer network on every continent and in 34 countries offer unparalleled levels of after-sales support.

78 Motor Yacht in Brief
The big sister to the 73 Motor Yacht, the Riviera 78 Motor Yacht displays its extended length throughout, from additional lounge space in the Sky Lounge to the crew accommodation.

The Sky Lounge of the 78 benefits through an extension of the starboard leather lounge and a longer liquor cabinet.

In the main saloon, too, the liquor cabinet area is extended and the dinette forward, a large U-shape around a square timber table. The accommodation suite is identical to the 73 forward and the additional space has been used to bring the crew cabin forward in front of the engine room, providing accommodation for two in a cabin that is the same as the IPS layout of the 73 Motor Yacht. Entry to this cabin is via a door from the cockpit.

Standard engines on the Riviera 78 Motor Yacht are Caterpillar C18 turbo diesels rated at 1,015 horsepower. Optional engines are MTU 8V turbo diesels rated at 1,200 horsepower.

The Volvo Penta IPS Advantage

Following extensive testing in the United States the revolutionary Volvo Penta Inboard Performance System (IPS) offers a range of exciting advantages as an option on the 51 Series II.

Both the 51 Open and Enclosed Flybridge models will continue to be offered with shaft drive.
With nearly 200 of these classy three cabin cruisers already on the water, the Volvo Penta IPS option offers an additional space amidships. Standard layout is an area for storage, stowing diving and fishing gear. An option offers crew's quarters including bunk and a fully-equipped bathroom. Access to the space is via a door from the cockpit. There is also an option to provide a second access via a hatch in the saloon. The space includes the boat's genset, air conditioning units and battery banks, offering very easy servicing. It is also used to access the front of the three Volvo Penta IPS engines.

Main access to the engines is via the hinged cockpit floor that lifts on an electric actuator.
Perhaps the most exciting for skippers is the incredible slow-speed control with the Volvo Penta IPS, which offers the ultimate control of your boat when docking or in tight manoeuvres.

The IPS propelled option features a hull design developed by Riviera's design team in consultation with Volvo Penta senior designers. Deadrise at the transom is 15 degrees.

The IPS system features drive units through the bottom of the hull, each with two forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers. The entire drive unit turns to steer the boat and all units can act independently, providing finger-tip control in slow-speed manoeuvres through a joystick mounted at the helm.

The system also offers impressive acceleration and performance. According to Volvo Penta, the efficiency of the new system also delivers greater fuel economy and lower noise levels.
